Spicy Tofu Dumplings.
Ingredients:
½ block firm tofu
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 teaspoons chili-garlic sauce
½ cup chopped green onions
2 cloves of garlic
½ tablespoon sesame oil
vegan dumpling wrappers (I used the brand Nasoya)
Recipe:
Wrap your tofu in a paper towel and put a plate on top of the wrapped tofu. Leave this anywhere from 5-10 minutes.
Chop your green onions and mince your garlic.
Grab a medium-sized pan, place it on medium heat, and add your sesame oil.
After about 2 minutes or when your pan is warmed up, add in your garlic. Your kitchen should start smelling amazing right about now. Cook this for about two minutes.
Add in your green onion, and allow this to cook for 2-3 minutes.
Begin crumbling in your tofu. It is easiest to do this by hand straight into the pan.
Add in your soy sauce and chili-garlic sauce and mix everything together.
Lower your heat and let everything cook for 4-5 minutes.
Now you’re ready to wrap your dumplings! Wrapping dumplings can be tricky at first but just mess around with it and try out different styles. My first round were pretty ugly, so don’t stress! Grab a bowl of water to keep near you to wet the edges to help them stick better.
Lay out your wrapper, wet the edges, and place a very small spoon of your tofu mixture inside the wrapper.
Fold the edges in and wrap your dumplings. Coat your dumplings with sesame oil before you begin steaming.
Place your dumplings in a steamer and cook until the dumplings are translucent. You can eat them like this OR fry them in some sesame oil to add a little crunch to them.
Serve with your favorite sauce and enjoy!
