Momos.
Ingredients:
Dough:
3 cups all purpose flour
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1½ - 2 cups water
pinch of salt
Filling:
Favorite package of vegan meat or tofu (I used tofurkey sausage)
½ onion
1 green chili
½ green pepper
green onion
2 cloves garlic
1 inch ginger
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon garam masala
salt & pepper
cooking oil
Recipe:
Dough:
In a bowl, add all purpose flour, oil and salt and slowly add in water while you knead the dough. You should get a light fluffy dough. Add more water if needed, but you most probably won’t, don’t overdo it!
Cover your dough and set aside for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Filling & Assembling:
Finely chop your onion, green chili, green pepper, ginger, garlic, green onion, and sausage.
In a pan, heat your oil and add your onion and garlic. Sauté this for 3 minutes then add your green pepper and sausage.
Cook your filling mixture for 5-7 minutes then add in your green onion, soy sauce, garam masala, salt, and pepper.
Once your mixture is browned, mash your sausage if needed. (It’ll make your momos easier to fill)
Now time to fill and steam!
Take a ½ inch of your dough and roll out into a small circular, THIN rounds.
Fill with your sausage filling and bring in all the edges.
Twist the top and steam for 7-10 minutes or until all sides have softened. Serve with your favorite chili sauce and enjoy!
